Key Selection Parameters

Set pressure & backpressure – Set pressure is the opening pressure. For conventional spring valves, backpressure must not exceed 10% of set pressure. Use a balanced‑bellows valve for higher backpressure.

 

Lift type – Conventional‑lift (≤0.05d₀) for liquids. Full‑lift (≥0.25d₀) for gases and steam.

Material selection – Body/bonnet: SS304 for mild corrosion, SS316L for chlorides, seawater, strong acids. Spring: stainless steel or heat‑resistant alloy. Seat: Stellite hardfacing or PTFE.

Connection standards – Threaded (G, Rc, NPT) or flanged (GB/T 9113, HG/T 20592, DIN, ANSI B16.5).

Media & temperature – Gas/steam: full‑lift. Liquid: conventional‑lift. Above 200°C: choose a valve with cooling fins or a bellows to protect the spring.

Installation & Maintenance Tips

Hydrostatic test pressure = 1.5 × set pressure.

Inlet piping: as short as possible, total pressure loss ≤3% of set pressure.

Discharge: never toward personnel or ignition sources. Toxic media require closed discharge.

Calibrate at least once a year; shorten interval for corrosive services.
